Pen, ink and paper for our Arabic calligraphy course online

Our Arabic calligraphy course online teaches you to write Arabic letters beautifully, even if you have never held a calligraphy pen before. You start with single letters in the Naskh script, the clear and elegant style used in most printed Qurans.

Step by step, you move from letters to joined words and short Quranic ayat. Each lesson works like a guided tutorial, with practice sheets and feedback, so beginners improve with every class.

Why join an Arabic calligraphy course online?

Arabic calligraphy is more than beautiful writing. It trains your hand, builds patience and brings you closer to the words of the Quran. With an online Arabic calligraphy course online, you can learn from home at your own pace, without travelling to a class. Many students say that a few minutes of practice each day feels calm and rewarding.

How our online calligraphy classes work

Each class begins with one or two letters. Your teacher shows how the pen moves, where each stroke starts and how wide it should be. You then practise the same letters on lined practice sheets and share your work for feedback. Once the letters feel natural, you start joining them into words, then into short Quranic ayat.

Classes are taught by Tayyba Shafaq, a female Quran teacher with 7 years of teaching experience, so sisters and children can learn in a comfortable, respectful space.

What you need to start

  • A calligraphy pen (qalam) or a chisel-tip calligraphy marker
  • Black ink or a good marker
  • Smooth paper or practice sheets
  • A quiet place and 15 to 20 minutes of practice each day

You do not need any drawing skills. If you can hold a pen, you can learn Arabic calligraphy.

Why we teach the Naskh script first

There are many styles of Arabic calligraphy, such as Thuluth, Diwani and Kufi. We start with Naskh because it is clear, balanced and easy to read. It is also the style used in most printed Qurans, so learning Naskh helps you read and write Quranic text with confidence. After Naskh, many students enjoy exploring other styles.

What you will learn

  • Arabic letter shapes in the Naskh script
  • Pen angle, spacing and proportion
  • Joining letters into words
  • Writing short Quranic ayat beautifully
